LISTEN TO YOUR BODY~It knows MORE stuff !

In the Spring of 2007, a group of us from The Hendricks Institute were invited to Virginia Tech to give a conscious healing seminar. Staff and students, still raw and reeling from the shooting, were struggling to feel better, move forward. 
I was a newbie at the time. I had years of hospice and bereavement experience, but the body-mind stuff was a whole new world ! I felt scared and very curious: How was Katie (Dr. Kathlyn Hendricks, our fearless leader !) going to pull this off ? magically transform these traumatized souls ?
I remember how we met beforehand and asked her that very question. I remember her shrugging and saying she didn't know, that she would see what showed up and what wanted to happen. She came prepared, of course, but nobody could know or control what was going to happen. I was in awe.
Gathered in a big classroom, we all just began with a few big belly breaths to settle ourselves, and then Katie did the simplest thing. She asked us all to hold up both hands. Then she told us to only move ONE of them - in all different ways, UNUSUAL ways. Twisting, turning, making fists, typing in air, backwards, forwards, etc. And then she told us to stop, feel the difference between our two hands. We all agreed, the hand that moved was all buzzy-fuzzy. ALIVE. Moving in creative, unusual ways gets blood and oxygen flowing into our [thousands of] joints, she explained, and if we do it to ALL our joints, OUR WHOLE BODY BECOMES MORE ALIVE. WE CHANGE OUR STATE. We change our WORLD.
I will never forget that weekend, how downright miraculous and fun and SIMPLE the exercises were. Everybody left GLOWING. 
That's what I intend everyday. I'm committed. And when I SPLATT from time to time, I simply and lovingly, RE-commit.
An SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) you might try~
Give yourself 5 minutes to start, and just NOTICE your body sensations. Head to toe, where do you feel stiff ? knotted ? fuzzy, boardy, tight, hunched, bunched ? Then breathing into your belly, start moving those places in unusual ways. Do it till you feel a shift, a loosening. Do it all over. I'm doing neck and shoulder rolls now, and it feels delish ! BIG stretches. Bigger moves. Rocking back and forth like my hips are on a hinge. BIG breaths.
Time to stand ! Move my lower parts. Make goofy faces and funny sounds. Fun !
I leave you with this~Your body can't lie. When you think of a dill pickle, you salivate. When you're scared, you get butterflies. Tune in to the sensations offered. Breathe them love and give them oxygen. You might just GLOW.
