THE BODY MIND

I’d spent years mentoring teens and counseling in hospice and bereavement, and despite all the trainings and certifications, I always had this vague sense that something was missing. Sharing information and talking in support groups didn’t seem to create organic, reliable change.

Then in 2007, a friend invited me to a “fun learning weekend.” A woman named Dr. Kathlyn Hendricks, co-founder of something called The Hendricks Institute was going to be the facilitator. Frankly, I didn’t care. My inner explorer/learner was IN. She had me at FUN and LEARNING. Little did I know ~

Life would never be the same.

I EXPERIENCED what was missing: THE BODY. This thing we all walk around in! It has intelligence. It’s quick! It knows what your mind does not. I had so much fun moving, discovering deep truths through play, that I immediately committed to a rigorous two-year course of study. I graduated in 2009 and have since shared this body-centered work with several communities. Committed to living consciously, wholly - mind, body, and spirit - I continue to study and contribute. My love affair with this endlessly fascinating work has enriched my life beyond measure.

Below are some pictures I’ve made as handouts. I’m a visual learner and I thought distilling concepts into simple, sometimes funny pictures, would be helpful to students. There are many others, but for now, feel free to download whatever you’d like.
